Inspired by color. It is so rare that I want to wear color (other than beige or blue). I'm not sure if it's the cumbersome past 2 years, current status of the world, or a recent sunny day, but I am actually for once craving color in my life. I found myself pulling the brightest shades from my Pantone book, and having to reel it in to something more wearable.  I had the phrase "not your grandma's ____" in my head when designing each piece - especially the crochet vest. While sourcing quilts this season tried to find the best shades and designs in need of some love to best show this newly found love for color. -ArlenaFounder of Marvin Ruby     All...

WE'VE ARRIVED. It’s been a long year. Marvin Ruby has been in the works since January, and after an abundance of emotions, blood, sweat, tears, and help from friends, I am so proud to introduce my baby - Marvin Ruby.  My dear friends at Big in Japan helped pull together this go with the flow shoot to get Marvin Ruby officially launched, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.  -Arlena    

BUCKET SIZES. Dealing with the limiting nature of vintage quilts is a challenge. You only have so much space to cut out a garment, let alone make the block pattern symmetrical on each side. Each set is a puzzle laid out on the studio floor and marked for cutting at our factory, Sew Valley. We decided bucket sizes made the most sense, XS/S and M/L. The jacket has a boxy cropped fit that looks great true to size, or a bit oversized. The pant has a roomy fit, with elastic at the back waistband and adjustable ties at the front.
